Trivia Question❓

Who beat his own son in a first-time NHRA Funny Car showdown?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

After 17 years as a beloved staple of Jenkins,  Sunset Cinema will permanently close on September 1, 2025.

The heartfelt announcement, shared on social media, sparked a wave of sadness and nostalgia from local moviegoers who consider the theater a cultural cornerstone.

Patrons recalled fond memories, marking Sunset Cinema as a place where families and friends gathered for countless memorable nights.

The owners expressed deep gratitude to the community and praised their dedicated staff, especially highlighting a manager with over 1,300 consecutive days of service.

Residents are encouraged to show appreciation to the team in the coming weeks.

Sunset Cinema's closure mirrors a wider trend, with iconic venues like Jacksonville’s Sun-Ray Cinema and Hollywood’s Cinelounge Sunset shutting down recently.

As Jenkins prepares to say goodbye, the enduring legacy and cherished memories of Sunset Cinema remain.

Tuesday, Aug 26 — Partly sunny, 75°F/52°F

Fishing Conditions: Good morning and evening windows.
Bait Tips: Use jigs tipped with crawlers for walleye; Ned rigs for bass along structures.
Why it works: Pleasant weather and reliable solunar peaks (about 2–4 PM major window) make for steady activity.

Wednesday, Aug 27 — Partly sunny, PM thunderstorms possible, 78°F/56°F

Fishing Conditions: Best bet is early—storms could dampen afternoon action.
Bait Tips: Slip bobber with crawler or leech works well for walleye; spinners for bass in shallow zones.
Why it works: Light rain before a front can stir up bites; midday windows narrower.

Thursday, Aug 28 — Sun & clouds, cool morning, 73°F/47°F

Fishing Conditions: Excellent dawn/dusk fishing—cool temps likely increase activity.
Bait Tips: Bucktails for muskie or blade-style jigs; crawler jigs for walleye.
Why it works: Cooler temps lower water surface temps, boosting bite responsiveness.

Friday, Aug 29 — High clouds, 74°F/52°F

Fishing Conditions: Uniform, steady conditions—excellent for evening anglers.
Bait Tips: Jigs with leeches for walleye; drop shots or Ned rigs for bass.
Why it works: Consistent high temps and gentle sun maintain midweek bite patterns.

Saturday, Aug 30 — More sun through high clouds, 72°F/52°F

Fishing Conditions: Great day through (especially dawn & dusk).
Bait Tips: Bobber + leech for walleye; crankbaits or spinners for active bass.
Why it works: Stable, mild weather supports extended feeding windows and visibility.

Sunday, Aug 31 — Bright & sunny, 73°F/54°F

Fishing Conditions: Solid afternoon window post-sunrise bite.
Bait Tips: Light spoons for crappie; spinnerbaits for bass on weed edges.
Why it works: High UV—fish move shallow—but morning and evening still fruitful.

Monday, Sep 1 — Mostly cloudy, 77°F/55°F

Fishing Conditions: Warm with cloud cover—ideal late morning to afternoon.
Bait Tips: Spinnerbaits for bass; slip-bobber with crawler for walleye.
Why it works: Overcast skies keep temperatures comfortable and fish less spooked.
